Hello and welcome to the Y.E.S. Foundation for the Arts website! I am proud to serve as Scholarship Director, as I have since 2007. It is a joy for me being part of this superb organization, administering the annual Stewart Brady Competition, along with other outreach.Lawrence G. Bedini created the Foundation in October 2004 for the purpose of helping young artists achieve their goals of a musical career. Larry, as everyone knew him, was a wonderfully inspirational and generous man who well understood the struggles and disappointments of aspiring artists because of his extensive background in acting and musical theater.You can click on the link below and read Larry’s original welcome letter. It offers a beautiful expression of his motivation and commitment to the Foundation’s mission in helping young artists.Sadly, Larry lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in May 2010. However, I am very happy to be playing a part in ensuring that the Y.E.S. Foundation for the Arts continues its mission. The new board and I, along with enthusiastic members and volunteers, share a dedication to furthering Larry’s legacy. Together, we want to expand our program, with a goal of increasing scholarships for our winning candidates. Adding other instrumental categories is another possibility under board discussion. The future looks bright and I am truly excited about our prospects.Ultimately, the work of the Y.E.S. Foundation for the Arts is dedicated to the inspiration of Larry’s mentor, Stewart Brady. Now, with Larry’s passing, along with our board and members I am delighted to help carry forward Larry’s dream as a special tribute to his memory.You can find out more about us by reading past issues of our member newsletter using the convenient link above.
